Why Are There So Many Godzilla Toys And Action Figures To Find?

Most science fiction and horror movies and comic books spawn toys relating to those titles. An extremely admired film character turned toy character is Godzilla. Originally presented in Japan in the 1950s, Godzilla has conquered a worldwide cult audience. Thousands of games in Godzilla’s likeness have been designed. If you like this fire-breathing prehistoric monster, odds are you need to collect the many Godzilla action figures available.

Whether you refer to him as Godzilla or Gojira, there is no question that the gigantic green lizard is maybe Japan’s greatest import, at least beside Hello Kitty and that Asahi beer. Initially an intimidating monster and metaphor for the nuclear bombardment, Godzilla altered over the years since he first appeared in 1954, as movie director Eji Tsuburaya found out that his largest group of followers were kids, with all of their lovely licensing dollars.

Kaiju collecting can rapidly turn into a very costly as well as addicting hobby. Since the 1960s the kaiju collector has had an increasing number of toys to splurge their hard earned cash on, and for most fans, the best bit of enjoying a collection is to look for that extraordinary poster, lobby, card, tin toy, etc. Strangely enough, the original collectible Godzilla toy wasn’t even created in Japan, but was the America model set created by Aurora. For many a fan however, the most popular sought after collectible is not that rare poster, CD or model kit. For many a fan, the most liked and widely collected Godzilla toys are the vinyl Godzilla toys which have remained popular for more than three decades.
